Words to live by...a new mantra...
If you are interested in a little bit of my perspective after my first (very quick) trip to our nation's capitol, check out my latest post on The Soccer Mom Vote. Now, back to my regularly scheduled blog post...
-----------------
Every once in awhile, a song comes along that just touches me and really speaks to the place that I am in my life at that time. When I heard Martina McBride's new song, Anyway, performed on American Idol several weeks ago, I was brought to tears. First of all, she is one of my all time favorite vocalists and, unlike many of the pop performers who have performed on AI this year, she really brought the house down with her song. But, it also got me because the words really spoke to my heart. A heart that is trying so desperately to quiet the negative and pessimistic voices and listen only to those that feed it more positively and lead me to a happier place in my life...all the while being in some emotional times that make that difficult to do many days.
So, for you today, I give you...my new mantra...
Anyway
Performed by Martina McBride
You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway
This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea - sing it anyway
I sing
I dream
I love
Anyway

They are great words - I think I have seen the words before and failed to realise they were a song - I must try and find the song on YouTube or wherever.
Oh, that's beautiful! I missed that performance, but I imagine it must have been wonderful.
